Chennai: With a view of mainstreaming people with disabilities (PwDs) across the employment spectrum, the 19th edition of south zone regional Abilympics will be organised 19 and 20 July at Tattvaloka auditorium, Eldams Road, Teynampet.
The event hosted by the National Abilympics Association of India (NAAI), under the aegis of Sarthak Educational Trust with the support of The Hans Foundation will be an eye-opener for the various stakeholders with national competitions, job fair for PwDs and talk on the self-sustainability of PwDs in the country, a press release said.
Candidates across India and adjoining southern Indian States like Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Telangana in the age group of 18 to 35 can send in entries for competition and job fair till 15 July. The mega event will be inaugurated by Governor Banwarilal Purohit.
The winners of national abilympics will represent India at International Abilymics to be held in China in 2020. Abilympics tests 10 vocational skills of the participants which include CAD architecture, desktop publishing, character designing, e-sport, tailoring, floral arrangement, beauty therapy, jewellery making, bakery and cooking categories.
The highlighting factor of the Abilympics is the job fair for PwDs, where more than 25 corporate companies from the region will be conducting a hiring drive, the release said.
