Chennai: The city police arrested four men for attacking a woman at MGR Nagar, Monday.
According to the police, Brinda (31), a resident of Choolaipallam, MGR Nagar runs a beauty parlour in the neighbourhood.
She lost her husband five years ago and in the past two years she had been in a relationship with one Dileepan (34). However, for the past few days she maintained a distance from him.
Dileepan along with his friends Anand (30), Artivel (32), a history-sheeter and son of a sub-inspector and Gokul (31), driver of a local politician went to the parlour last evening.
One of the men slapped her on the face and another slashed her cheeks with a knife. She also claimed her gold chain worth 1.5 sovereigns was taken by them. With CCTV evidence, Brinda lodged a police complaint and all the four men were arrested.
Artivel is son of Vadapalani Sub-Inspector Ponraj. He has cases against him at MGR Nagar Police station, Kumaran Nagar Police station and Thirumullaivoyal Police station. He was an associate of rowdy C D Mani.
