Chennai: Of late, residents living on Arunachalam Street, Saligramam are faced with a problem – abandoned cars. The vehicles have been parked here for the past many months and have started to gather dust and rust.
A resident, Padma Priya, says, “Ever since the vehicles were left here, the roads have become narrow and it is becoming more difficult to commute. If the vehicles are parked somewhere else, it will be easier for motorists.”
Another long-time resident, Hari, claims that these vehicles have been left here for years. “They also occupy the pavements and pedestrians have no space to walk,” he says.
Sharing concern about the issue is another resident, Jegan, a social activist. “The vehicles have been here for many years. If they are removed, parking problems will drastically be reduced,” he says. Residents request the authorities to take necessary action at the earliest.
