Chennai: Customs officials at the Chennai international airport seized gold, imported cigarettes, electronic gadgets and health supplements worth Rs 1.28 crore over the two days.
According to press release quoting a statement from Customs’ Air Intelligence Unit, on Friday, the officials retrieved 2.5 kg gold worth approximately Rs 91 lakh from eight passengers kept concealed in their rectum. The officials also seized imported cigarettes, laptops and iphones worth Rs 9 lakh from them these passengers.
On Saturday, 700 grams of gold worth Rs 25 lakh and health supplements and electronic gadgets worth Rs 3.15 lakh was seized from two passengers.
