Chennai: The Anna University Annual Sports Award Function for the year 2018 – 19 was held at Vivekananda Auditorium, Monday.
The Chief Guest for the event was Vice-chancellor, Anna University, MK. Surappa and he presented the cash awards to the players, Managers and Coaches of Anna University teams that won the first, second and third positions in South Zone / All India Inter-University tournaments.
According to a release, Anna University Sports Award Function is arranged every year after the completion of Zonal, Inter-Zonal and Inter-University Tournaments of that particular year.
The overall champion trophy for this year was awarded to Paavai Engineering college, Namakkal, which emerged as the champion among all Engineering colleges in Tamilnadu.
Also, the zonal winners of all the nineteen zonal tournament winners were felicitated during the event. College of Engineering Guindy, won the Zonal trophy for Zone II and Madras Institute of Technolgy won the Zonal trophy for Zone IV. All the Zonal co-ordinators were also awarded mementoes for their services extended to AUSB
During the event, the Vice-Chancellor of Anna University also released the Sports Annual Report Booklet 2018-19, and I.P.S Additional Director General of Police, Crime against Women and Children, Tamil Nadu, M Ravi received the first copy of the Booklet. he also gave the Special Address by encouraging words, the release added.
