Chennai: They may be young in age, but have the ability to discuss a wide range of issues happening in the world. Yes, Chettinad Vidyashram (CV) conducted its 11th edition of the Model United Nations (MUN) on the school premises recently.
According to a press release, CVMUN serves as a platform to discuss issues ranging from the various aspects of human development, geopolitical change and oil trade. The MUN comprised of nine committees – United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), Nuclear Emergency Session (NES), Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), The Bilderberg Council, Joint Crisis Committee (JCC) and International Press Corps (IPC).
The objective of MUN is to provide a medium through which students from various schools can showcase their potential and to emulate leaders.
Deputy Head of the HirShabelle Office of the UN Assistance Mission, Somalia, Rajarathinam Kannan and Indian Foreign Service Officer Rangashree T K, were the guests. School correspondent Meena Muthiah and principal Amudha Lakshmi participated.
