Thiruvananthapuram: Pointing at several developments such as the State police facing flak over the Sabarimala protests, a custodial death of an accused in Idukki and clash between two groups during police association election recently, Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala alleged the Kerala Home department was being mismanaged. He further demanded Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to resign.
Kerala has never seen police atrocities and custodial deaths as being witnessed now. Chennithala further reffered to reports that the CM at a high-level meet of senior police officers Tuesday had stated that officials had leaked information to protesting groups during the Sabarimala temple issue. The Congress leader slammed Vijayan for the statement, and said that he was incompetent to man the post and so must resign.
Also further flaying the left government for the violence at Kerala University College, he said asked how did the accused students get high marks in the exams and get attendance when they never attended classes.
Last month during the assembly, Chennaithala said the maximum number of custodial deaths happened during the period of Pinarayi Vijayan government and that custodial deaths were not taken seriously.
