HC rejects Nalini plea on release of Rajiv assassination case convicts

Chennai: The Madras High Court has rejected a plea by Rajiv Gandhi assassination convict Nalini Murugan in the case relating to the release of the seven convicts on the recommendation of the Tamilnadu government.

The Tamilnadu government had recommended to the Governor to release all the seven convicts after the Supreme Court said it was left to the discretion of the Governor to release them.

Since there was no movement in the case after that, Nalini moved the High Court to give a direction to the Governor to act on the recommendation of the State government.

According to reports, the case came up before the bench of justices Subbiah and Saravanan this morning. They ruled that her plea was not maintainable and rejected it.
