Chennai: Several key issues were discussed during Chitlapakkam Executive Officer Gunasekaran’s recent visit to Muthulakshmi Nagar in the neighbourhood.
Based on a request by Muthulakshmi Nagar Welfare Association, Gunasekaran listened to the grievances of the residents.
According to sources, association president L Sundararaman welcomed the Executive Officer and highlighted the important concerns which needed the immediate attention of the Panchayat.
Sundararaman said the area needs to be supplied with water at least once in three days. “All the street taps should be immediately checked, as the pipes have not been functioning for more than six months. Garbage, too, should be collected from houses on a daily basis. Branches, leaves and other green waste on the roads must be removed. Drains should be cleaned at least once a week, while Muthulakshmi Nagar park tiles have to be re-laid. Streetlights must be checked once a week,” he added.
Also, as the association has plans to do rainwater harvesting in the streets, it sought permission from the Panchayat.
After the conclusion of the session that was attended by many members, including the group’s vice-presidents V L Narasimhan and V Ramajeyam, the officer assured garbage would be collected from homes on a daily basis.
He informed that de-silting and deepening of Chitlapakkam lake will be done at the earliest and appreciated the efforts of the various teams in this regard.
