Chennai: Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, who left for New Delhi on Sunday, today met Home Minister Amit Shah.
Sources said various issues were discussed during the meeting. Panneerselvam left for New Delhi yesterday evening after the Assembly session was concluded Saturday.
His meeting with Amit Shah comes in the wake of a string of arrests of alleged IS supporters and raids in Tamilnadu by NIA.
The meeting is also seen as significant as it takes place at a time when the election for the Vellore Lok Sabha constituency has been announced. The AIADMK alliance in which the BJP was part of did not fare well in the Lok Sabha polls held for 38 constituencies recently.
It may be noted that Panneerselvam’s son O P Raveendranath Kumar is the only MP to represent AIADMK in the Lok Sabha.
Sources earlier said Panneerselvam might discuss Vellore election with Amit Shah following which he is also set to meet a few Union Ministers to discuss issues concerning the State.
