Chennai: A new annexe building of the Lotus Girls Hostel for the blind was inaugurated recently at Thiruveedhi Amman Koil Street in Mylapore, Chennai.
According to a release, the building was inaugurated by the Consul General of Taiwan, Republic of China, Charles Chao Cheng Li, Mylapore MLA, R Nataraj, Commissioner, Employment and Training, Tamilnadu, B Jothi Nirmalasamy and Head of Medical Sciences, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, J Vijayalakshmy.
The function was organized by the Lotus Blind Welfare Trust of India in the presence of founder, Surana & Surana International Attorneys, P S Suranaa and CEO and Partner, Vinodh Surana.
Chairman Advisory Council, Lotus Blind Welfare Trust of India, Kailash Mull Dugar, presided over the function and felicitated the Chief Guest and the guests of honour. Surana and Surana Public Charitable Trust has provided the Illam for the Lotus Blind Welfare Trust of India, which was started in the year 2002 by Padmaraj and six other visually-challenged persons.
All the seven persons were educated and employed so they decided to help the blind girl students by providing boarding and lodging in Chennai, who wish to pursue their higher education. There are 45 blind girls coming from various parts of Tamilnadu, are in the hostel built by the trust, added the release.
