Chennai: In a bid to help customers be aware of their rights, Consumers Association of India (CAI) has been operating free helpline services to register grievances about a product or service.
“Ignorance is the main reason for exploitation. Know your consumer responsibilities and fulfil them. Know your consumer rights and exercise them. The Consumer Protection Act gives you the right to safety, right to be informed, right to choose, right to be heard, right to redressal and right to consumer education,” said a press release from the association.
As a responsible consumer, one should gather information and facts available about a product or service before buying. It is one’s responsibility to demand good quality from manufacturers and service providers and to complain in a fair and honest manner and inform businesses and other consumers of dissatisfaction with a product or service.
