Bringing pride to the neighbourhood, Yeshwanthika Kumar, a four-year-old resident of Reddy Kuppam Street, made it big in the finals of the India Kids Fashion Week, held recently in the city. Speaking on this Divya, the little girl’s mother, said, “There were three rounds: audition, semi-final and finals for this competition.

In the audition, all the participating children were evaluated on their bravery and attitude by making them speak in public. In semi-finals, they were asked to display their talents like singing, narrating stories and so on. For the finals, the organisers organised a ramp walk for the participants. My daughter excelled in all the three rounds.”

Elaborating on the semi-finals, she stated, “It was all about how the child is confident enough to handle any situation and not get afraid of facing the public or the crowd. Also, there were a few questions like explaining about oneself and their school and so on. Yeshwanthika replied all these questions with confidence and came out with flying colours.”

The girl has already been honoured with the Memory Genius award, instituted by Genius Indian Achievers Award in 2018 and by World Records India for being the youngest to recite the national anthem to her credit. So how did she develop these talents? “Right from her first year, she loved listening to songs. She learnt the National anthem. After listening to her singing, we encouraged her to participate for the World Record, and she won the same under the youngest category,” her mother noted.

“Similarly, we identified her other talents like speaking without any fear to our friends and relatives, and took her to participate in India Kids Fashion Show, where she proved her mettle,” she added. About her future plans, she said, “It is too early to say anything. Yeshwanthika, who is an LKG student of Chettinad Vidyashram, is developing various talents including sports. We are looking forward to encourage her at every stage.” For details, contact 86674 64389.
