Hyderabad: The city police yesterday arrested six men, all aged below 25, for threatening and allegedly trying to extort money from a minor girl and her parents.
The minor girl had befriended one of the accused on social media and he had taken Rs 11.5 lakh from her after gaining her confidence.
Following this, he and five of his friends tried to take advantage of this and demanded Rs 40 lakh from her. When the girl refused to pay, the men threatened her parents by saying they would upload morphed pictures of her online.
Based on a complaint filed by the girl’s parents, the man were arrested on Tuesday from Andhra Pradesh.
