Chennai: Bannari Amman Institute of Technology (BIT), Sathyamangalam, hosted their alumni meet and the inauguration of their Chennai chapter at Vadapalani recently.
The event was attended by over 600 alumni members along with their families. The ceremony was planned by the alumni members of batch 2000 to 2019 with required support from the institution.
Adhithya (Adhi) popularly known as Hip Hop Tamizha also attended the event as an alumni member of the institution. Chairman S V Balasubramanian presided over the function. Former IAS officer M P Vijayakumar, trustee & director BIT was also present. The chairman in his speech urged the team to work on replenishing the water bodies in Chennai by means of rain water harvesting and desilting of the ponds which is the need of the hour.
“We certainly paused from our busy work life to make this event a success, it was a fulfilling experience to form various committees and get the senior and junior batches to own and execute them. This is an excellent example of team work and we worked at ease as the common thread that runs among us is the institution who raised us to what we are today and we are proud to be a part of BIT,” says Vidhya Bhojan, an alumni.
The organising team was cautious to avoid one-time plastic usage and promoted eco-friendly products and encouraged parents to provide healthy snacks for children by giving traditional sweets as return gifts.
