Chennai:Ā Bishop Ezra SargunamĀ found himself in trouble after he allegedly used provocative and abusive remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Cauvery News, a Tamil news channel.
BJP spokesperson in the State Narayanan Tirupathi filed a police complaint against the Bishop yesterday.
In his complaint toĀ Abiramapuram Police Station, Narayanan detailed the allegations and said that Sargunam’s comments were being circulated in the social media andĀ sought the Bishop’s arrest and prosecution under IPC 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace).
Sargunam’s allegation in the TV programme reflected accusations that Prime Minister Modi faced when he was the Gujarat Chief Minister a decade ago.
Narayanan further said if the police did not act on his complaint thenĀ all legal avenues would be pursued.
