Chennai: The newly elected Vellore Lok Sabha MP, Kathir Anand, today met DMK president M K Stalin here at Anna Arivalayam. He was accompanied by his father and DMK treasurer Durai Murugan.
Following this, Stalin, Kathir Anand and others went to late party president Karunanidhi memorial at Marina beach, placed the winning certificate there and offered their tributes.
Kathir Anand got 4,85,340 votes and defeated A C Shanmugam, who contested on behalf of the AIADMK, by 8,141 votes. By winning the Vellore constituency, DMK’s strength in Parliament has increased to 24.
With this victory, the DMK alliance has won 38 Lok Sabha constituencies in the State. Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam’s son O P Raveendranath elected from Theni constituency is the lone AIADMK MP.
