Chennai: Girija, a resident of Kilpauk Garden, was awarded the ‘Youngest Player’ of Tamilnadu State-level School Children & Open Chess tournament held at SBIOA Model Matriculation School, Mugapair, on 27 and 28 July.
She is 2 years 11 months old and has not yet started her schooling. He mother taught her to play the game at home and later she was coached by Tulasi. Girija won the youngest player award and certificate.
