Tiruvarur: Doctors at Government Tiruvarur Medical College staged a protest in front of the hospital premises after a patient’s son attacked some doctors on Sunday.
The father of the accused was admitted at the hospital for chest pain and died without responding to treatment. Angered by this, his son Tamarai Selvam allegedly attacked a doctor and house surgeons. He even broke the hospital’s glass panes and window screens.
This sparked off a demonstration by the doctors. They demanded police protection and action against the accused.
The police have registered cases against Tamarai Selvam under four IPC sections including criminal intimidation and murderous attack.
