Chennai: The presence of share autos on one side of College Road in Nungambakkam is a cause of concern for many.
According to Irudhaya Mary, a student here, “This stretch doubles up as a parking space for these vehicles, which wait for customers here. This results in the road getting choked with traffic, particularly during the peak hours. We are forced to put up with a lot of inconvenience due to this.”
Kruthi, another regular here, stated, “The said road is already a narrow one. These autos wait in a long row, thereby further narrowing down the space.”
Many allege that the condition of this stretch, is such that vehicular movement becomes tough, when an MTC bus and a car pass by at the same time.
“If this is the case, imagine the problems caused by the share autos. Something has to be done immediately to curb this problem and avoid any untoward incidents,” said Suresh, who works at the DPI office.
A shop keeper nearby, felt, the Greater Chennai Corporation and the traffic police should take up the matter, shift the auto stand to any one of the interior roads.
