Chennai: A cylinder blast took place in a building at Arya Lane, Vepery Main Road, killing one and injuring four persons. According to sources, the incident took place at a Jain mess at Shree Mahaveer Swami Rajendra Suri Trust last night.
Fire and Rescue vehicles from Kilpauk and Vepery were pressed into service. The mess has been functioning for the past one-and-a half-years on the ground floor.
The deceased has been identified as Pravin Kumar (25) of Rajasthan. The blast took place when he tried to turn on a LPG stove. The injured were identified as Akshay Ravi Kumar (22) Mukesh Kumar (18) and Chowdakar (19).
The owner of the building Deepak Kumar is also hospitalised. The blast has badly damaged the building.
