Chennai: Residents of Ganesh Nagar and commuters are irked by the Tasmac situated on the Medavakkam Main Road, as it disturbs the vehicular flow in the road and safety in the surrounding localities.
Situated near a school, hospital and a couple of marriage halls, residents opine that the Tasmac outlet adds to traffic and people find it uncomfortable to travel in this route during the peak hours.
Abinaya Krishnan, a resident of Puzhuthivakkam, who travels via this road, says, “It is really annoying to travel in this road, as it is already narrow and there is heavy traffic.Ā Adding to this, people who come to these bars park their vehicles in an improper way, blocking the path. So, pedestrians are forced to walk on the road instead of footpath.”
She adds, “Also, the way these tipplers behave is very scary and uncomfortable. They become unconscious of how and where they walk. They all form a crowd near the tasmac, especially after 7 pm.”
Srinivasan R, a resident of the same locality, says, “Unruly behaviour of these people is beyond control. They stand on the road and keep creating a fuss every day. This has become very common here. School children, who go to classes after school find it extremely uncomfortable crossing this stretch.”
Residents want the Tasmac outlet to be moved away from the residential area or at least take steps like deploying policemen near the shop to avoid chaos on the main road so that there is no threat for safety.
