Chennai: An unknown vehicle parked at junction of 20th Main Road and 3rd Street, Mullai Colony, Anna Nagar West, near the Otterrie Nallah canal is proving to be a hindrance for motorists and pedestrians for it is occupying considerable space. Residents want the encroachment to be removed from the road.
Mohanraj from the same locality says “we don’t know whose vehicle it is, but, it’s quite some time since the machine is lying here and posing as a hindrance.”
The vehicle parked takes away space leaving here very little for motorists and pedestrians.Walkers and riders jostle here for space and one can imagine the congestion and trouble encountered, says Arivanandam, a motorist, who travels in this road regularly. He said, “The same street leads to Thirumangalam Road and Villivakkam. Hence, many take this street to reach nearby localities and add more to the existing rush.”
Pointing at the encroachment, Arivanadam says, “See the rear side of the vehicle, how debris has been dumped there and the vehicle spot has almost become a dumping place of sort. A few people use it as a urinal.”
Concerned authorities should take necessary action to uproot the encroachment before this stretch becomes a dump-yard, he rues. The abandoned vehicle poses a threat to the cleanliness and safety of the locality, he adds.
The civic workers said, “Whenever, we come here to clean the place, we find difficult to do our work. It’s better to remove the vehicle from here, so that we will be able to maintain the cleanliness of this place.”
