Company Secretaries drive corporate culture of country: Minister

Chennai: “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has rightly said, Company Secretaries drive the corporate culture of the country,” informed Minister of State for Human Resource Development Sanjay Shamrao Dhotre.

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) keeping in view the invaluable contribution made by the teachers in guiding the youth of our country, organised ICSI teachers conference on the theme ‘Empowering Educators’ at New Delhi Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said, “Given the name of governance professionals, the functions, roles and responsibilities of Company Secretaries, whether as employee or practitioner is to ensure that the company functions with the ambit of its defined legal and regulatory framework. Each and every arena of business functioning impacting a corporate, from setting-up of new businesses, expansion of business through mergers and acquisitions, seeking funds from overseas or investing money therein, requires the services of Company Secretaries.”

Sanjay Shamrao Dhotre commended ICSI for creating such interactive platforms to provide a new and different perspective and hone the skills of that segment of the society which in turn hones the entire society.

Greeting the teachers, ICSI vice president Ashish Garg said, “It is your teachings, the knowledge and the values shared by you that shall form the basis and the foundation of the future of this country.”

ICSI officiating secretary Ashok Kumar Dixit said, “The need of the hour for the ICSI is to engage with the teachers across India on the recent topics related to Companies Act 2013, GST Law along with their updates on latest amendments by the Government of India.”
