Chennai: Ahead of the much awaited Ayodhya verdict, which is likely to be delivered before 17 November, the police are taking various precautionary measures to ensure peace and order.

The Tamilnadu police department has decided to not grant leaves for its personnel from 10 November.

An order from Director General of Police, J K Tripathy said, ”No leave should be granted to officers and men from 10 November onwards, until further orders. Strength of all special units including camp office should be kept in readiness for deployment in Law and Order duties. Mobilistaion of strength should something akin to mobilistaion of strength for elections.”

The order was forwarded to all DGPs, ADGP, EOW, Crime, CB-CID, Enforcement, Commissioner Of Police, Superintendents of police, IGs, DIGs and Railways.

A five-judge Supreme Court bench heard the Ayodhya case on a day-to-day basis for 40 days.

People have also been barred from holding any event regarding the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute. Directives have been issued warning people not to make any defamatory remarks against any religion, community, deities, eminent personalities on social media platforms.
