Chennai: A youngster from Salem, who was caught in a huge wave in Marina Beach on Sunday, died at a government hospital this morning.
Police said Naveen (20), a native of Sankagiri, came to the city along with his friends Periyasamy, Chandran, Dhanapal and Mano.
They went for dip in the beach and Naveen was caught in a huge wave. His friends alerted the police. A team of police and fishermen initiated a search and found him.
He was rushed to Government Multi Specialty Hospital, Omandurar Estate. However, he passed away this morning. Anna Square police have registered a case.
