Chennai: The city police detained two men who were found with a one-feet knife at Pondy Bazaar last night. One of them was a delivery executive with a popular online food ordering platform.
Police said, the two men were identified as Vignesh (22) of Krishnampet and Mohammed Aarun (20) of Triplicane.
While Vignesh worked as a food delivery staff, Mohammed was a third-year-student in a city college.
They were stopped by patrol police at Thirumalai Pillai Road, T Nagar for riding a two-wheeler at high speed at 11 pm. When they were being searched, police found Vignesh had hid the knife on his hip.
The duo explained that the knife was kept for self protection and they had come under attack while on duty the same day. Vignesh claimed that while he was delivering food near Pondy Bazaar, four men approached him demanding free food.
When he refused, they attacked him with bricks and fled. Police said the two men wanted to avenge the attack. They were taken to Teynampet police for further inquiry.
