Jada is a marriage between sports and horror genre in Tamil cinema. It strives to narrate about the game of football and the politics involved in it. Directed by Kumaran, Jada travel on a serious path, but loses steam as it progresses.
The first half of the story introduces us to the hero Jada (Kathir), who is a fearless football player. He is determined to play 7S tournament (football). This is a tournament which does not follow any rules and the only aim is to win and gain money. Jada wants to excel and end up with a government job under sports quota. But there is a twist in the tale. He also wants to avenge the death of his childhood football hero Sethu (Kishore) who died in the violent 7s football match. The ban on the sports is lifted after ten years. Now Kathir and his teammates enroll in the 7s football tournament. How they plan to win the event is what the story is all about.
If the first half is about the sport, the latter part introduces us to horror elements happening in the Sattankulam which is the native place of Sethu. Jada comes up with plans to avenge the culprits behind the death of Sethu. All narrated in a dull manner.
After Pariyerum Perumal and Bigil comes Jada for Kathir. He has proved that he has enough potential but very much under-utilised in Jada. Kishore as Sathya and Yogi Babu has enough screen space and have given their best. Yogi Babu’s one-liners are good. Sam CS music tries to liven up proceedings in the movie with his background score. The major drawback in the film is its screenplay and it fails to strike any connect with the audience. Jada is watchable for those who carry no expectations.
