Chennai: Blind population is more in tier-2 cities in India and the awareness is less, said Dr Agarwal’s Group of Eye Hospitals chairman Dr Amar Agarwal.
He was addressing a press conference here Wednesday about hospitals’ expansion across the world.
Dr Amar Agarwal said, “Dr Agarwal’s Healthcare Ltd (DAHCL) has rased Rs 215 crore of debt from CDC Group to expand the geographical footprint of the eye-care chain across India, Africa and south Asia. We are looking to make the number of hospitals to 150. The investment will help touch tier-2 cities and patients need not travel to cities every time. We follow hub and spoke model.”
He further spoke about the job opportunities that the expansion would create. “With CDC’s focus on Africa and south Asia, the group is looking to strengthen its international presence. We are also looking to expand in Maharashtra, Kerala and central India,” said Dr Agarwal’s Group of Eye Hospitals CEO Dr Adil Agarwal.
