Excerpts from his interview
Q: Tell us about Hero?
A: I appeared in a small role in Mithran’s short film a decade ago. To play the lead role in his film is a pleasant surprise. The movie is a commercial entertainer with a strong message. It is an action-packed entertainer, but those scenes will not be overboard.
Q: The movie speaks about the education system. Can you elaborate?
A: I play a youngster who runs a racket that prints fake mark sheets for students. A few incidents change my life. I turn saviour and raise my voice against the bias in the system. The demand for engineering courses is reducing year after year. But parents still push their children to take up engineering, they should understand the needs of society and allow their wards to pursue what they want.
Q: Have you started the shoot for Doctor?
A: I know Nelson Dilipkumar for a long time. We are good friends. The movie will be an action-comedy. I had difficulty while shooting as my style of comedy is different from what we saw in Nelson’s directorial Kolamaavu Kokila. We share a good rapport and we managed to find a balance.
Q: Have you completed the shoot for your sci-fi thriller with Ravikumar?
A: The shoot has been delayed due to a few reasons. But I didn’t want to give it up. Will resume shoot early next year and plans are on to do another movie with him.
Q: When is your production venture Vaazh releasing?
A: It is my third after Kanaa and Nenjamundu Nermaiundu Odu Raja. Vaazh has come good. I am a huge fan of Ilayaraja. Elated that our music composer Yuvan Shankar has recorded a song crooned by Ilayaraja and I appear for it.
Q: Do you have political interests?
A: I don’t want to make any comment on it. Even my wife doesn’t know as to whom I vote in elections.
