CHENNAI: SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) honoured 27 of its eminent, distinguished, and notable alumni at its annual Alumni Day held at institute’s campus, Kattankulathur recently.
Three other graduates were presented with endowment medals instituted by the 1991 batch. The day was filled with fun and laughter as many walk down memory lane, said a press release.
Welcoming the gathering, alumni director R Venkataramani urged old graduates to institute awards, scholarships, and create jobs for deserving students. ‘Apart from mentoring, you should also be a guardian. You are also national and international ambassador of SRMIST and your welfare will be taken care of by management,” he said.
“You are one of the biggest alumni groups in terms of number, diversity, sectors, activities and various other things. Many of you come from different fields, including government, private, and entrepreneurship. So, we also need to learn from you and get your feedback to improve the next generation of students, ” said SRMIST vice-chancellor Sandeep Sancheti.
“It is a pleasure to be with all of you on this occasion. I am sure the classrooms and places where you hang out would bring out nostalgic memories,” said SRMIST president P Sathyanarayanan.
“I am really proud to hear that many are doing well. As you grow, our university will also grow. This is my family meet and not merely an alumni meet,” said SRMIST founder-chancellor T R Paarivendhar.
