Watery grave for student, man in Chennai

Chennai: Eighteen-year-old college student who had gone for a dip in the sea at Neelankarai drowned yesterday.

According to the police, Vishnu, a resident of Shollinganallur and a student of Guru Nanak College in Velacheri, had gone to swim in the sea with his friend Sasikumar (18) and three others.

Sources said, Vishnu and Sasikumar were dragged into the sea by a giant wave. While the friends managed to save Sasikumar, Vishnu drowned. A case was registered by Neelankarai police.

In another incident, a man from Madhya Pradesh Amook (35), who worked in the city had gone to Marina with his friends yesterday. While they were swimming in the waters behind Labour Statue, Amool was caught in a wave and drowned. The police later found his body.

In yet another case, the body of a man, aged around 25, was washed ashore at Marina near the swimming pool area. The body is yet to be identified. Cases have been registered by Anna Square police.
