Boy suffers head injury in escalator mishap in Chennai

Chennai:Ā A 11-year-old boy suffered severe injuries to his head while riding on an escalator at a leading retail store at Purusawalkam.

According to sources, Danish Babu was at the store with his mother Sasikala last evening.

A resident of Kannigapuram, Danish studies in a private school in Vepery and he had come to the store to buy clothes. They got on the escalator on the seventh floor to reach the eighth floor during which Danish leaned over the railing to see the height from above when his head hit the retaining wall. The escalator was immediately switched off after an alarm was raised. It is said the store did not have the required five-feet gap between the wall and escalator.

Danish suffered injuries on his head and neck and was rushed to Government Stanley Hospital for treatment.
Vepery police have issued a CSR on the case and FIR is yet to be filed.
