Chennai: The Tamilnadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) Group 4 examination, which is embroiled in a scam, is witnessing yet another hurdle.
If reports are to be believed, the government might stall the entire process of the exam held last year till the ongoing CB-CID probe is over. So far, 99 candidates have been barred for life from appearing in the examination and 39 stripped off their ranks.
The CB-CID, which took over the investigations, has arrested 13 people. Among them is H Omkanthan, a TNPSC Record Clerk.
The CB-CID officials on Wednesday arrested a police officer Siththandi from Sivagangai. He came under the radar after the investigating team found four of his relatives had cleared the exam. Four of them from Group 2A and Group 4 are being questioned by officials, sources said.
The CB-CID is also conducting inquiries with a Registrar, Velmurugan. They have also decided to search the house of main accused Jayakumar in Mugappair.
On Wednesday, Minister for Fisheries, Personnel and Administrative Reforms, D Jayakumar, said the perpetrators would be arrested. Meanwhile, the opposition parties have been demanding a detailed CBI probe into the issue.
