Director Ashwath Marimuthu’s debut film Oh My Kadavule is an entertaining rom-com with every character having a string part to play in the story.It speaks more about love, friendship and second chances in one’s life and career. The writing is the key and Ashwath Marimuthu has given his best.
Rom-coms in Tamilnadu was all about romance and a group of friends around the hero helping him win the heart of his beloved. But Oh My Kadavulae presents a different picture. It does not preach moral values.
The movie revolves around Ashok Selvan, Ritika SIngh and Vani Bhojan. And there is Vijay Sethupathi and Ramesh Thilak in extended cameos.
Gautham Marimuthu (Ashok Selvan) and Anu Paulraj (Ritika) are friends from school. They fall for each other and enters wedlock. But things turn bad in their relationship as Ā Meera (Vani Bhojan) re-enters into Arjunās life. Meera is Arjunās school senior and crush, who works as an Assistant Director Gautham Menon. Arjunās affection for Meera strains his marriage. In fact, Arjun decides to part ways with Anu in less than a year. Thatās when Arjun meets Vijay Sethupathi and Ramesh Thilak, who claim to be God. They give him a āgolden ticketā ā a second life of sorts to do things differently.
Gautham gets a second chance at life and what he does forms the rest.
Ashok Selvan who hitherto was seen inn serious roles, does a good act as bubbly youngster. Romance comes naturally for him. Ritika Singh steals the show with her expressions. Vani Bhojan makes a comfortable debut in big screen. Vijay Sethupathi and Ramesh Thilak’s cameo appearances are enjoyable, they get quite repetitive as the story progresses. Leon James’s songs are foot-tapping. Oh My Kadavule may be slow-paced but still enjoyable for it is feel-good and entertaining.
