Kamal writes to Lyca, seeks compensation for victims

Chennai: Following a crane mishap on the sets of  Indian 2 that killed three technicians and left many injured, actor Kamal Haasan has shot a letter to Lyca Productions’ founder-chairman Subashkaran (bankrolling Indian 2) to make sure that all safety measures are put in place before shoot.

He also urged the production house to ensure the best of medical help to each of those who have been admitted to hospital and provide the affected families support during this time of need, both financially and emotionally.

Kamal wrote, ”Accidents of this kind will only destroy the confidence and belief of the entire team in the production house. I want to understand the steps taken by the production team to ensure the safety of the artistes, crew and other technicians involved in the shoot and also the kind of insurance that they had taken. Any loss, damage, risk undergone on account of production team failing to carry out what they ought to have carried out, has to be compensated in full at the earliest”.

He also wrote, ”You should ensure to implement all guidelines on safety and institute an audit process to assess safety standards at shooting locations before commencing any shoot. Only by such positive and proactive steps, the production team can demonstrate its diligence in adhering to safety requirements and thereby restore confidence of the cast and crew (including me) to report back to shoot”.
