Chennai, Feb 27: At a time when Opposition parties dubbed actor Rajinikanth as ”B” team of the BJP, the actor-politician taking potshots at the Centre said the Home Ministry should be held responsible for the violence during CAA protests in New Delhi and that the Centre should resign if violence is not controlled. This has led to many raising their eye-brows.
Talking to reporters in front of his Poes Garden residence on his return from Hyderabad last night, he said the Delhi violence showed the defeat of the Union Home Ministry and the failure of the Intelligence machinery.
Going further he added, ”Some sections of the media portrays me as a mouth piece of the BJP and that the saffron party was behind me. It is annoying and I am only telling what is the truth”.
Claiming that some parties were instigating the protests in the name of religion, Rajini, while responding to a query on the alleged hate speeches of BJP leader Kapil Mishra and others, strongly condemned those doing politics in the name of religion.
The actor, who has confirmed his political entry, but was yet to launch his own party, reiterated that he would be the first to raise his voice if any one Muslim was affected by the CAA and asserted that he would stand by them.
Interestingly his remarks has gone viral in social media. His fans started to cheer him for his public statements. Interestingly, his long time close friend and actor-politician Kamal Haasan on Wednesday night welcomed his remarks.
In a tweet, the Makkal Neethi Maiam (MNM) Founder said ‘Good. Friend Mr Rajinikanth. Come like that…It is the way to go. This is a good path…not a separate path. It’s a path of the race of Rajapattai…welcome, congrats’.
Political observers say that Rajinikanth is making things clear for his political entry. He seems to have devised a strategy and going towards achieving it. His remarks against the BJP government may find favour with regional parties as an anti-BJP mood prevails here and it was visible during last Lok Sabha polls. Once he launches his political party, people can expect a lot of interesting events, they say.
