Chennai: Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami today said that all tenders in Public Works Department (PWD) have complete transparency.
Speaking during the debate on the demands for grants for his departments, Palaniswami said at present only e-tenders are floated. ”Only those who are eligible are given work order,” he said.
He was responding to DMK MLA Thangam Thennarasu’s statement that only a few are getting tenders repeatedly. Thennarasu also said that he was disappointed that no questions were taken up in the PWD and Highways department.
To this, Palaniswami said, ”I have given clear explanations to the questions raised in my departments during the debates. Proper response has been given to the members who have even given letters.”
Palaniswami said so far 4,800 lakes have been desilted under the Kudimaramathu scheme. He further said that 14,000 lakes will be taken up in Kudimaramath scheme.
”As many as 1,364 works will be taken at a cost of Rs 499 crore during the year 2020-21. So far 4,865 works have been carried out in the past three years at a cost of Rs 930 crore,” he added.
