Chennai: The Tamilnadu government has asked house owners to not be harsh on tenants in case they defer in paying the house rent this month.
As per the government’s announcement, house owners cannot evict tenants in case they fail to pay rent for this month. This applies to tenants from other States, including students.
The government has also asked companies to pay salaries in full and not deduct them for the lockout period.
It may be noted that for the past one week the State has been under lockdown following Covid-19 outbreak. People have been asked to remain in their houses.
While most companies facilitate work from home options, many others have shut shop temporarily. The move has come as a blow to small industries and daily wagers.
