Chennai: Tamilnadu, which is intensifying its anti-corona measures, has increased the number of testings it is doing on suspected persons and people with symptoms.
Out of the 21,994 samples that were tested till date, 2,739 were tested. on a single day on Wednesday, of which 1,242 tested positive. “The numbers will be increased in the days to come,” sources said.
A total of 1,876 people with suspected coronavirus are being treated in isolation wards. The State government got the nod for one more testing Centre taking the numbers to 26 (16 government, 10 private).
As many as 34,841 people were under home quarantine, 107 in government quarantine centres and 72,326 patients have completed the 28 days treatment.
Of the 38 cases on Wednesday, a maximum of seven cases each were reported from Tiruvallur and Nagapattinam districts, Erode (six) and Chennai (5).
Chennai continued to remain on the top of the chart with 214 cases, followed by Coimbatore (126), Tiruppur (79), Erode (70), Dindigul (65), Tirunelveli (57), Chengelpat (50), Namakkal (45), Trichy (43), Karur, Madurai and Theni (41 each).
