Chennai: The Tamilnadu government has planned a high-level committee under Finance Secretary S Krishnan to finalise an exit strategy post the lockdown that is scheduled to end on 3 May.
According to highly placed sources, the team comprises of higher officials from various departments and the exit strategy would be a phased one.
Besides framing overall strategies to be followed after 3 May, the committee would also draw up a list of industries that would be permitted to function after 20 April.
Though the Central government announced on Wednesday that lockdown would be eased in areas which don’t have much spread of coronavirus and establishments such as IT companies would be allowed to function there from 20 April, there seems to be only little respite for Chennai and 21 other districts in Tamilnadu.
Reason: These 22 districts have been classified as hotspots and it is unlikely that restrictions would be eased here. Districts with more than 15 positive cases have been classified as ‘hotspots’, where stringent containment
measures are put in place.
