Chennai: The Tamilnadu government, which earlier decided to issue tokens to ration card holders today (24 April) and tomorrow (25 April) to get their free pack of essentials from ration shops, has now reportedly postponed it to 2 and 3 May.
It is learnat that the items will be distributed from 4 May onwards. Officials said tokens will be issued at the doorsteps of family card holders, to enable them get essentials from fair price shops.
Tokens will be given to general public with details of date and time of when people can get the esssentials, which will be given free of cost due to the lockdown.
“Based on the details mentioned in their respective token cards, consumers can come to ration shops to get the products,” they said and added that this is being done to prevent crowding and ensure social distancing.
