Chennai: Chennai continues to be a hotspot on Tamilnadu’s coronavirus map by reporting 47 of the 52 Covid-19 positive cases on Monday.
While north Chennai hitherto remained worst affected zone in the metropolis, the cluster centred around crowded Koyambedu market grew larger with at least 13 close contacts of a vegetable vendor infected.
Chennai continued to remain on the top of the chart with 570 cases, followed by Coimbatore (141), Tiruppur (112), Dindigul (80), Madurai (79), Erode (70), Tirunelveli (63), Namakkal (59), Chengalpattu (58), Thanjavur (55), Tiruvallur (53) and Trichy (51).
Till date 94,781 samples, including 7,176 today, have been taken and sent for testing, of which 1,937 tested positive, 83,021 tested negative, while testing of 1,381 samples were under process and 8,442 samples were repeat samples of same persons.
The total number of persons tested till date was 86,339 which included 6,753 on Monday.
A total of 29,797 patients were under active quarantine and 36 under Government Quarantine, while 809 active cases were under treatment.
In all 1,870 suspected individuals were under isolation wards. The State has 41 testing centres–30 government (the highest in the country) and 11 private labs.
