Chennai: The State police have recorded over three lakh violations during the lockdown period. As on 28 April, FIRs have been registered against 3, 26,645 persons.
A press release from the DGPās office stated that 3,45, 357 persons have been arrested for lockdown offences.Ā A fine amount of Rs 3,40,39,674 has been collected from the violators.
The State has been under lockdown from 24 March and many parts are currently under a four-day curfew.
The police have seized nearly 2,93,193 vehicles from those stepping out of their house for non-essential errands. The department has returned 96,498 vehicles to its owners. These include 93,035 two-wheelers, 837 three-wheelers and 2,626 four-wheelers.
