Chennai:Â While deciding to bring all food delivery staff under scanner, since they have the potential to spread coronavirus to a large number of people due to their nature of work, officials have requested people to stay alert while ordering food online.
‘In case if they have any symptoms of Covid-19, food delivery staff have been asked to immediately report to government hospitals. Action will be taken if they fail to do so,’ official sources said.
They have requested people to santise their hands before and after receiving food packets and also to check well if the food is packed well. ‘We request them to not take any chances, especially since coronavirus cases are on a high in Chennai,’ they said.
A 26-year-old employee of an app-based food delivery aggregator has tested positive for Covid-19. Following this, his contacts including people to whom he delivered food have come under scanner.
Also, officials have directed all food delivery agents to maintain hygiene and social distancing.The food delivery agent who was affected by coronavirus acquired it from his father, a 66-year-old lung cancer patient, who tested positive for the virus on 22 April, and died today morning.
Health department officials subsequently quarantined his family members and took the samples for testing. As the results came, it emerged that the 26-year-old son showed positive for the virus.
