Chennai: The State police are relentless in ensuring that the lockdown is followed in letter and spirit.
According to the DGP’s office, 3,46,071 violations were recorded so far. Nearly 3,65,747 persons were arrested for defying orders of the lockdown. Police filed FIRs against several for venturing out of their houses for non essential errands.
Around 3,09,026 vehicles were seized by the police. A fine amount of Rs 3,54,25,999 was collected from violators. It is said that the seized vehicle are being returned to owners in a phased manner.
