Chennai: The Tamilnadu government has issued a notification to acquire former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s “Veda Nilayam” residence at Poes Garden in Chennai.
Officials said the notification has been issued to convert the house into a memorial, as per an earlier announcement by the State government.
The notification said: “This project does not involve any displacement of families/location.There are no Project Affiliated Families (PAFs) andhenceno question of relocation, resettlement and rehabilitation. Therefore it is declared that no area was identified as “resettlement area for the purpose of rehabilitation and resettlement of the affected families”.
It added: “A plan of the land may be inspected in the office of the Land Acquisition Officer and Revenue Divisional Officer, South Chennai Revenue Division, Guindy, Chennai-32 on any working day”.
