Chennai: The neighbourhood of Kodambakkam now once again has the highest number of Coronavirus cases in Chennai, with 531 persons from the locality undergoing treatment for the pandemic.
An area-wise break up from the Greater Chennai Corporation today said, as many as 97 persons have recovered from the infection in Kodambakkam and two persons died.
In total, as on 11 May, 3,050 patients contracted the infection in the city. So far, 743 have recovered from it and 28 lives have been lost.
Followed by Kodambakkam is Royapuram with 519 persons testing positive for the virus. Royapuram has the highest number of recovery rate. As many as 148 persons have been discharged from the hospitals and nine persons died.
According to data, Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar is the third highest containment zone with 405 persons with Covid-19. As on 11 May, 146 persons have recovered from the illness and five persons have died.
Teynampet is one of the initial hot spots. Here, officials say, at least 326 persons have the virus and just 85 persons have recovered so far. One person passed away.
Another large containment area is Valsaravakkam. The number of patients here is 284 and 34 have reportedly been discharged after completing treatment and one death has been recorded here.
During the lockdown, six persons have died in Anna Nagar and 72 persons have recovered from the disease. Currently, the locality has 223 active cases.
Tondiarpet has 207 cases and 66 have recovered in the past few weeks and only one person died. Ambattur has not reported a single casualty and among the persons who tested positive, 28 of them have recovered and there are 177 more active cases.
Another hotspot, Adyar, has 148 cases and 24 have recovered, three persons have lost their lives to the virus here. Thiruvottiyur has 73 cases of Covid-19 and 11 have recovered from it.
Other zones such as Madhavaram has 47 cases and seven have recovered, Manali has 39 cases and three recovered, Perungudi has 26 patients and 10 have tested negative, Shollinganallur has 25 patients and three have recovered and Alandur has 20 cases and nine have been discharged from hospital.
