Chennai: In an effort to continue to help those at the front line of the coronavirus pandemic, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) announced the ramp up of face mask production, tripling its initial capacity.
“As previously announced, FCA equipped its Comau manufacturing facility in China to produce over one million protective face masks per month,” said a press note.
Following the start of production in April, capacity has been increased with a target to produce three million masks per month across two lines, with over one million masks manufactured in the first 10 days of production.
As a priority, over 200,000 face masks are being donated to India to support those most vulnerable in the community. Shortly, donations will commence in China and the United States, followed by Indonesia, Philippines and Australia.
“We all have a role to play in supporting those people and countries most in need at this time,” said Max Trantini, chief operating officer, APAC region.
