Chennai: As many as 4,73,606 persons have been arrested for violating norms of the lockdown in Tamilnadu.
The State police have been on the ground enforcing Section 144, to maintain social distancing rules and curb the spread of Coronavirus. FIRs are being registered against those who violate the rules.
According to a press release from the DGP’s office, until this morning, 4,61,633 violations have been recorded.
The police seized as many as 3,90,562 vehicles from people who ventured out for non-essential errands. However, the police are returning the vehicles to its owners in a phased manner. A total amount of Rs 5,59,89,779 was collected from violators as fine.
